The night of 25th 1971 of Bangladesh (National Genocide Day)
The night of 25th of 1971, is called the Kalorat (Dark –Night) for Bangladeshi people.
On the night of March 25, the Pakistan Army began a violent effort to suppress the Bengali opposition. In Bangladesh, and elsewhere, the Pakistani actions are referred to as genocide. Before carrying out these acts, all foreign journalists were systematically deported from Bangladesh. Bengali members of military services were disarmed.
Pakistani Army transported their heavy arms over India to get into Bangladesh and officially informed India that it was for security purpose of East Pakistan (Bangladesh).
The operation was called Operation Searchlight by Pakistani Army and was carefully devised by several top-ranked army generals as chief General Yahya Khan to "crush" Bengali's. They get on the road with tanks, automatic rifles, rocket launchers, heavy mortars, light machine guns, etc. They killed the people whoever they found, not even the sleeping people could get away from their violent paw.
The Pakistan Army convoy that attacked Dhaka University on 25 March 1971 included the 18th Panjabi, 22nd Pashtun, and 32nd Panjabi regiments along with several battalions. Armed with heavy weapons such as tanks, automatic rifles, rocket launchers, heavy mortars, and light machine guns, they encircled Dhaka University from the east (unit 41), from the south (unit 88) and from the north (unit 26). The first target of Operation Searchlight was this student hall. By 25 March all leaders of Chhatra League had left the hall. According to Professor Dr. K.M. Munim around 200 students were killed at this dorm. After 12 o'clock the army entered Jagannath Hall and initially attacked the hall with mortar and began non-stop firing. They entered through north and south gate and indiscriminately targeted students in each room, killing around 34 students at that time. Some students of Jagannath Hall were resident of Ramna Kali Bari. So, around 5–6 were killed there. Among them, only the name of Ramonimohon Bhattacharjee is known. Many guests of students who were at those dorms were also killed.
They told the world as it was a political issue between Pakistan and Bangladesh. By midnight, Dhaka was literally burning. The city was covered with blood. Time magazine reported on August 2, 1971, "The Hindus, who account for three-fourths of the refugees and a majority of the dead, have borne the brunt of the Muslim military hatred." (But they didn’t know who was Hindu or not, they just killed whoever they found). They use Islam as a name to do whatever they want.
Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had concluded that instead of taking in millions of refugees, India would be economically better to go to war against Pakistan. As early as 28 April 1971, the Indian Cabinet had asked General Manekshaw (Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee) to "Go into East Pakistan". Hostile relations in the past between India and Pakistan added to India's decision to intervene in Pakistan's civil war. The Indian government decided to support the creation of a separate state for ethnic Bengalis by supporting the Mukti Bahini( Freedom Fighter). Not only women but also girls participate on this war directly.
In this, 9 months of blood shedding war more than 3 Million ( 3,000,000) people were killed and in this war Pakistani Army rape more than 0.2 Million ( 200,000) female of Bangladesh. Pakistani Amry didn’t keep any clothes around the females cause they would suicide even pregnant were victims.
On 14th December 1971, knowing the Mukti Bahini is going to win, the Pakistani army killed the intellectuals of Bangladesh. As an example Munier Choudhury, he made a Bangla keyboard front on a scientific way from that the updated version came from. That is why Bangladesh lack behind so many years of civilization.
On 16th December the war ended.
Pakistani civilian was unknown to the situation of war. After the war they were misguided, they didn’t know the true facts of war.
Some Pakistani pained for the work done by the people of the past.
